Rembrandt Lighting
Rembrandt lighting, named after the artist Rembrandt, illuminates one side of the subject's face, casting a triangular patch of light on the opposite cheek for a subtle and moody effect. In contrast, split lighting divides the face in half, with one side brightly lit and the other in shadow, creating a bold and dramatic look often used to evoke strength or mystery in portraits.
