Negative and Positive space

 Positive and negative space are design concepts used in visual arts, graphic design, and photography to create aesthetically pleasing and balanced compositions. These concepts refer to the relationship between the subject (or positive space) and the surrounding area (or negative space) in an artwork.

Positive Space: Positive space is the main focus of a picture. It's the area occupied by the subject(s) in an image. In a portrait, for example, the person's face is the positive space. In graphic design, it might be the text and illustrations on a poster. Positive space commands attention and is usually the primary element that the viewer focuses on.

Negative Space: Negative space, on the other hand, is the area around and between the subjects of an image. It can be as important as the positive space, as it helps define the boundaries of the positive space and brings balance to the composition. Skillful use of negative space can create interesting shapes and enhance the overall visual impact of the artwork. In some cases, negative space is used creatively to form another image or convey a message, making the most out of the empty space.
